"My Silks” - Divas from around the world
Bea Palya's My Silks concert series began at Müpa Budapest in 2015 after the singer's 2014 album entitled Nő (Woman) inspired the theme of divas from around the world, for which she invites a different international guest on each occasion - sometimes from close by and on others much further afield. This time, Palya's guest will be Dafne Kritharas, who was born in Paris to a Greek father and French mother. Kritharas's repertoire consists of songs from the Greek, Sephardic Jewish, Bosnian, Armenian and Turkish peoples originating in the time of the Ottoman Empire, which brings together under a common denominator.
For her My Silks series, Palya invites female performers and singer-songwriters who are important and inspirational to her and introduces them to the Hungarian audience. She has already been joined on the stage by Kurdish, Cape Verdean and Estonian women. Of course, there are many more such performers close to Palya's heart, so we will once again be able to discover a perhaps lesser known but all the more exciting guest. Dafne Kritharas released her debut album in 2018 (Djoyas de mar), but it was her second disc, Varka, that attracted greater attention in 2021. Filled with passion and pain, the Greek urban folk style known as rembetiko is her main genre, but Kritharas is unusual in that she is able to also focus on the musical circumstances and era when Greek folk music came into contact with the Bosnian, Armenian and Turkish people, as well as the traditional songs of the Sephardic Jews in the Ladino language. She brings together these styles with their contrasting backgrounds and breathes new life into them with her singing combined with jazz and electronica that is at once intimate, crystal clear and heart-wrenching. The themes of the songs range from persecution to love, so we can expect our two main protagonists to produce an unrepeatable experience.

Macskabál van az elhagyott színház ódon színpadán. Minden évben egyszer megrendezik a bált, és erre összegyűlnek a környék - nagyon is emberi tulajdonságokkal felruházott - macskái. Eltáncolják és eldalolják életüket.
