Hungarian Folk Instruments - Wind Instruments

The Turkish whistle and the bagpipes, the reed whistle, clarinet and the horn. From this intriguing list, we can see that this time around the instruments selected from the extremely rich array of Hungarian folk instruments will be of the wind variety. Adding names to the shapes, forms, colours, sounds and moods will be Gergely Agócs and some of his talented musical friends, as well as the series host and presenter, Zoltán "Batyu” Farkas. Authentic live music and expert musicians: a sure recipe for an entertaining educational experience.

Wind instruments are played with the help of human breath being blown through the nozzle of the particular instrument type. While the clarinet is widely used in Gypsy and village brass bands, it can also be played independently as a pastoral instrument. The modern tárogató is sometimes known as the Schunda tárogató, named after József Schunda, who also reinvented the cimbalom. While the reed of this instrument is similar to that of a clarinet, the body is shaped like an oboe and it has a conical bore. Its upper register bears a trumpet-like, metallic sound, while its upper register produces a soft, lamenting sound. Gergely Agócs and friends will provide a live musical accompaniment to the show. Our offer

While listening to the orchestra’s excellent musicians performing in a cozy atmosphere, the audience will learn about the instruments of the symphony orchestra and concert etiquette in a playful and interactive manner. After the concert, the kids can have a mug of cocoa in the lobby.

„Improvizációs gasztroszínház – sok röhögéssel, alapvetően édes ízben, és némi savanykás zamattal. Mindezt kultúrtörténeti szempontból több rétegben egymásra pakoljuk, aztán feltekerjük a hőfokot. Pont olyan sül ki belőle, mint egy finom flódni” – meséli Stahl Judit, az előadás megálmodója.
