For years, the Hungarian National Ballet has been working on a dedicated repertoire for ballet students. Thus, following the analogy of the well-known Little Swan Lake and Little Sleeping Beauty, in the new season ballet students are given the opportunity to take part in a real production although in a shortened form with Little Corsaire. The production, which also features both young and experienced dancers, gives children a great opportunity to get a glimpse of real theatre and ballet, while being watched by their peers. This performance is aimed at boys especially, and the artistic management of the OPERA has made no secret of its intention to encourage them to take up ballet. After the matinee with the emblematic scenes, the audience will also have the opportunity to see the original, "grown up" Le Corsaire at the end of the season, which contains the complete, exciting story of adventure, love, betrayal, life-threatening shipwreck, and eventually, a rescue.

Our offer

This Christmas, the Capital Circus of Budapest invites audiences on a magical journey into the heart of one of the most beloved Grimm fairy tales: Mother Holle, the timeless story of a diligent girl and her indolent sister.

Pörgős vígjáték, ami egy percre sem engedi elkalandozni a nézőt.

The idea for The Nutcracker ballet came from theone-time director of the Tsarist theatre who, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s fairy tale entitled the Nutcracker and the Mouse King, wanted to stage a fairy tale ballet that would surpass all that had gone before, both in sound and in spectacle. Tchaikovsky was asked to compose the music and after Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty his third and final ballet was also a great success. It was the six-movement suite of the music of The Nutcracker that was first performed in March 1892, and in December of the same year the spectacularly presented theatrical work was also performed. The Nutcracker has become the most frequently played ballet piece of all time.
