The MET’s new production, directed by Charles Edwards, promises just such an extraordinary line-up as the improbably high vocal parts are to be delivered with effortless mastery by virtuosos like Lisette Oropesa and Lawrence Brownlee. Alongside these two stellar American bel canto specialists, Artur Ruciński, a Polish baritone with an exceptional presence will shine in delivering several operatic hits in a performance conducted by Marco Armiliato, renowned for his remarkable rapport with singers.
