He started out making music with the stars of the local scene in the 60s, and was making records with Miles Davis by 1971.

One of the founders of bebop, Dizzy Gillespie was a fantastic musician with a wonderful personality. It is by keeping these values front and centre that the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band continues the tradition started by the legendary trumpet-playing songwriter and band leader.
