How does a poem transform into a song? How important is the lyrics for a song to become a hit? For the Play-off concert, writers, poets and musicians rewrite each other’s works, and make new songs together. How do the frontmen of 30Y, Heaven Street Seven or Kistehén establish a dialogue with poetic oeuvres? What’s a writer’s reinterpretation of a hit song like? And what happens if you throw a chamber orchestra into the mix?

Our offer

Artistic director and director-choreographer Balázs Vincze is very familiar with the tastes of dance aficionados partial to the traditions of bourgeois theatre and is superb at adapting familiar and popular literary classics to the dance stage. His wonderful sense of proportion enables audiences to follow plots in the language of dance. His contemporary choreographies built on classical foundations are unique, spectacular and of a high professional calibre without losing sight of the need to please the audience.

"A three-course gourmet menu" was how the Bachtrack critic described Paavo Järvi's concert, which featured pieces by Sibelius, Tüür and Beethoven. The Grammy Award-winning Estonian-American conductor is coming to the BFO with a similarly exciting program.
