Traditional Gypsy music will rendezvous with authentic folk music, Manouche jazz and the world of Django Reinhardt at what promises to be a unique concert by Tcha Limberger and Lajos Sárközi Jr. Tcha Limberger, who is of Flemish-Sinti descent, grew up immersed in the Manouche musical heritage and is now also well-versed in Hungarian Gypsy music and the folk music of Transylvania, in particular Kalotaszeg (Țara Călatei). Hailing from Bruges, the musician, who also sings perfectly in Hungarian, is a leading exponent of Manouche jazz, which is best known for the music of Django Reinhardt. He was introduced to the music of Kalotaszeg by such great local musicians as Rudolf Toni and Sándor “Neti” Fodor. Lajos Sárközi Jr, who represents the seventh generation in a family of musicians, is a prominent representative of urban Gypsy music, a guardian of a centuries-old musical culture that is threatened by disappearance. The first joint performance of the two great musicians will take place at the House of Music Hungary.

This concert of the Liszt Fest is presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with House of Hungarian Music.

Our offer

Artistic director and director-choreographer Balázs Vincze is very familiar with the tastes of dance aficionados partial to the traditions of bourgeois theatre and is superb at adapting familiar and popular literary classics to the dance stage. His wonderful sense of proportion enables audiences to follow plots in the language of dance. His contemporary choreographies built on classical foundations are unique, spectacular and of a high professional calibre without losing sight of the need to please the audience.
